How to Get a Driver’s License in Ghana 

 

Getting a driver’s license in Ghana is a legal requirement before you can drive any vehicle on public roads. The process is handled by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) and involves both theory and practical training.

 

 

Requirements Before You Apply

Before starting the process, make sure you:

•Are at least 18 years old.

•Have a Ghana Card or valid national ID.

•Can read and write in English (basic level).

 

 

Step-by-Step Process

1. Enroll in a Driving School

•Choose a DVLA-certified driving school.

•You will be trained on road signs, driving rules, and practical driving.

•The training usually lasts 4–6 weeks depending on the school.

 

 

2. Apply for a Learner’s Driving License

•Visit the nearest DVLA office with:

•1 passport-sized photo

•Ghana Card or ID

•Driving school introductory letter

•Fill the Form F for learner’s license.
