Forgot Your DV-2026 Confirmation Number? Here’s How To Recover It
If you’ve lost or forgotten your DV-2026 confirmation number, don’t panic — you can still check your result. The U.S. Department of State provides a simple way to recover it online. Here’s exactly what to do.
How to Retrieve Your DV Lottery Confirmation Number
Follow these steps to recover your lost DV-2026 confirmation number:
-
-
Go to the Official DV Lottery Site
Visit dvprogram.state.gov and click the “Check Status” button. -
Click on “Forgot Confirmation Number”
Under the form, you’ll see a link that says “Forgot Confirmation Number”. Click it to open the Verify Entrant page. -
Fill in the Required Information
On the Verify Entrant page, enter the following details exactly as they appeared on your original entry:-
Program Year: Select DV-2026
-
Name: Type your full name just as you entered it during application. If any name field was left blank, check the box under that field.
-
Date of Birth: Enter your birthdate in MM/DD/YYYY format (e.g., 01/01/1980)
-
Email Address: Use the same email you submitted with your DV entry.
-
Captcha Code: Enter the characters shown in the image. You can click the speaker icon to hear them or refresh the code if it’s hard to read.
-
-
Submit the Form
After entering everything, click Submit. Your confirmation number will be displayed on the next page if the details match.
Important Tips
-
Spelling and format must match exactly what you used in your DV application. Even a small error will return no result.
-
If you didn’t enter an email address during the original entry, or if you’ve forgotten which one you used, it won’t work.
-
This tool only works for the primary applicant, not derivatives like spouse or children.
